Nilgün Yusuf is a London-based playwright, screenwriter, author and critic (The Reviews Hub, London Pub Theatres) with a first in Creative Writing from Birkbeck, where she’s currently completing an MA in Writing for Screen and Stage.
Nilgün’s latest play, Intrapartum was longlisted for the Tony Craze Award 2026 developed as part of Soho Theatre Writers Lab where she worked alongside dramaturg Chloe Todd Fordham.
Her debut play, NINE MOONS, developed with Mrs C's Collective was staged at The Space, Bridge House Theatre, Old Red Lion and Lion & Unicorn in 2024. Described as a “gory, feminist call to arms” (London Pub Theatres) with “shades of Angela Carter” (London Theatre Guide) and “a wonderful creation” Art & Theatre Reviews, it received between 3.5 and 5 stars.
Her entertaining, layered stories feature multi-faceted, authentic characters, explore the complexities of being human and often harbour a dark twist. She writes precise, funny, modern pieces with an interest in the unspoken and taboo aspects of her characters lives.
Nilgün’s work has been performed at Barons Court Theatre, Bold Theatre, Scriptwriters & Co, INK Playwriting Festival and the Drayton Arms - as winner of the Tables Turned Competition by London Pub Theatres in 2025.
Her current playwriting project supported by the Peggy Ramsay Foundation, Jack Studio & The Drayton Arms is scheduled for 2026.

“A writer who doesn’t show the complicated inner workings of her craft, Nilgün prioritises character and story, and offers thoughts and questions that echo long after the piece is heard. That George remains one of our most downloaded episodes is a testament to the lingering impact of her work."
Matt Gibbs, Producer, Lost Soul Monologues
